First Class

Introduction

The first activity for the class was a question-and-answer session that served as an introduction to the subject. Why do people study English? What is communication? What is communicative competence? The questions were key in activating our prior knowledge and, at the same time, allowed us to reflect and maintain active communication by discussing our answers in class.

 

Reflection

 This first experience has taught me a valuable lesson: the subject matter is not about being passive recipients of information. It requires us to be active participants. Starting the course by experiencing firsthand what real communication means puts us on the right track for the following classes.
